Stand Up
This is the first message by Pastor Steve in a three-part series.
Many of us have taken the wrong posture, and the Lord would say that it’s time to stand up now. Many of us are distracted and God wants us to stand up and stand out from where we have been, to where He wants us to be. The invitation today is for you to come into the fulness of what God wants for you.
In 1999, I had a powerful vision, which led to the book I wrote called ‘Rouse the Warriors.’ In the vision there were thousands of people, which represented the body of Christ. All these people were doing different things, and then a huge angel sounded a trumpet. This trumpet was like an alarm sounding over this mass of people. It was as if the Lord was waking them and wanting them to hear what heaven was saying. There were three responses to this alarm. The first was that people were so busy doing their own thing they didn’t even hear the sound. The second group heard the alarm and looked up, weighing up their response, but decided it was too costly to respond to the Father. The third group responded immediately, dropping their arms to their sides, standing tall and strong. They looked straight ahead and they gave attention to what the Heavenly Father was saying. They completely surrendered to the will of the Father, and that’s how I believe God wants us to respond today.
Romans 13:11 says, ‘And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.’ This is the word for us today; to wake up, put the darkness aside and live for the Lord. The times are urgent and we cannot be sleepwalking through them. We must stand up and respond now.
In Jeremiah 1, God tells Jeremiah that he knew him before he was formed in the womb. This is also what God speaks to your life. There are four things we can learn from Jeremiah 1 for us today.
1) The Father has written your story (Jeremiah 1:5).
God knew you before you were in your mother’s womb. He has plans and purposes for your life. You have been set apart and appointed.
2) The Father affirms your identity and calling (Jeremiah 1:6-9).
Our Heavenly Father shows us who we are and plants us in community so that others can also affirm us and call things out of us. We do not fear or make excuses like Jeremiah did, because God is with us and empowers us.
3) The Father expects you to know your identity (Jeremiah 1:10).
We live what we see. If you don’t know your identity, pray that the Father would help you to see as He sees you.
4) The Father says, ‘get ready’ (Jeremiah 1:17).
It is your responsibility to get ready. God says, ‘get yourself ready and stand up!’ You need to change your posture in order to stand up.
The Lord is saying to you, stand up, see who I say you are and inherit the destiny I’ve put inside of you.
