Kingdom People: Discovering God’s Word

Throughout the month of February, we have been unpacking our church vision: For all people to glorify God through knowing Christ, becoming like Christ and making Christ known.

It has been wonderful to gather as church family, acknowledging what has been, and looking ahead to the mighty exploits that God is calling us into.

This week, we split into 2s and 3s to do a DBS (Discovery Bible Study) together, inviting the Holy Spirit to speak to us through the Word of God. DBS is a simple, yet powerful tool, inviting all people to hear from God and implement His revelation in our lives.

Wherever you are reading this right now, I’d like to invite you to open your Bible and spend a few minutes listening to the Holy Spirit and writing down what you sense.

DBS

Our key Scripture for this year, as Kingdom People, is 1 Peter 2:9-10.

‘But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.  Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.’

1)       Following. How will I follow Jesus this week as a result of what I’ve read?

2)       Fishing. How will I ‘fish for people’ this week as a result of what I’ve read?

Vision Offering

We also opened up our ‘Vision for the House’ offering this Sunday. The purpose of this is to sow seeds financially, trusting God for the resources needed to fulfil our vision here in the city, nationally and globally. Key projects we are sowing into are:

-           Media equipment

-           Bible giveaway

-           Expanding kid’s church space

-           Revival Ready series

-           Strike the Ground

-           Missions

We really believe that we are living in exciting times, and that everyone is called to play their part.
