Kingdom Exploits: Bible and John’s Gospel Giveaway

Did you know that God has a strategy to reach the nations? It’s called the Church. Not a building, not an institution, but a people made of living stones (1 Peter 2:5) who will declare the praises of God who has called us out of darkness into His wonderful light (1 Peter 2:9). As Kingdom People, this is our Kingdom Identity.

Daniel 11:32 (AMPC) says, ‘those who know their God will do mighty exploits.’ Today, the invitation is for you to know your God and partner with Him in the missional activity He has for your life.

In John 4, Jesus has an encounter with a Samaritan woman at a well which changes her and her whole town. That Jesus would speak to a woman, that she was from a different people group to Him, and that she had a ‘colourful’ past (John 4:18) is in itself remarkable. Jesus overcame cultural boundaries and biases to make time to reveal Himself to this woman.

There are 3 very simple things we can take from this passage.

Upward Look

Firstly, the Samaritan woman looked up. As she looked up and saw Jesus, and the more she conversed with Him, He revealed Himself as Messiah to her (John 4:26).

The more we look up to Jesus, the more revelation we can receive too (2 Corinthians 4:6).

Inward Look

Secondly, the Samaritan woman looked inwards. In John 4:16-18, her lifestyle and past was exposed by Jesus. Yet, Jesus did not condemn her, He still revealed Himself to her.

When we look at Jesus, we recognise our need for a Saviour. We recognise that often, our lives are not as they could or should be, and Jesus offers us another way. John 3:16-17 reminds us that it was out of love that Jesus came for us, not to condemn us but to save us.

Outward Look

Thirdly, she left her water jar- a thing of utmost importance- to look outwards and tell her town about Jesus (John 4:28-29).  Her testimony pointed others to encounter the Messiah too (John 4:42).

After looking up and seeing Jesus, this Samaritan woman went and did mighty exploits, kick starting a revival in her town of Sychar.

Jesus invites us into His story by taking an outward look to the world around us and inviting us to do mighty exploits too.

Bible and John’s Gospel Giveaway

Partnering with other churches across Wolverhampton, we are looking to giveaway 50,000 copies of John’s gospel.

This is such an exciting initiative to be part of. We want to get the Word of God into the hands of families, friends, neighbours, schools and workplaces across the city, so that they may encounter Jesus for themselves.

So, how can you get involved?

Next Steps

‍ 1)       Pray. Pray that people across this city would encounter Jesus. Pray for open hearts, conversations, schools, and lives to be transformed.

2)       Share. Take some copies of John’s Gospels (available in church) and share them with your ‘Believe for 3’ and those you are praying for.

3)       Serve. Our Church building will be open during the week of 22nd – 26th June. We need volunteers to serve at church by welcoming people coming in to collect a Bible, ask questions, or have a conversation.
