Resurrection Power- Do We Believe?

This is a year to know Christ more deeply—to experience His hope and the power of His resurrection life in us. As we think about Easter, we remember not only Jesus’ death on the cross but also celebrate His powerful victory over death. But do we fully grasp the truth that he rose again? Do we really understand what this means for us as His followers?

Jesus had the power to lay down His life and take it up again. John 3:16 reminds us that, “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” His death was not taken from Him but He gave it willingly. John 10:17-18 confirms: “No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord.” Believing in the resurrection of Jesus is foundational to the Christian life. Romans 10:9 says: “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Without belief in the risen Christ, there is no salvation. Acts 16:31 reinforces this truth: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” But beyond our salvation, the resurrection of Jesus means so much.

In Ephesians 1:19-20, Paul reminds us that the same power that ‘raised Christ from the dead and seated him… in heavenly realms’ is the same power available to us who believe. That is amazing! Do we believe that His power can breathe life into what seems dead in us—our dreams, our faith, or our relationships?

Jesus’ resurrection means we can experience abundant life. John 10:10 assures us: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

This resurrection life means we are no longer bound by sin. Romans 6:4 says: “Just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

Paul’s longing in Philippians 3:10 is one we should also have: “I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection.” This is our invitation—to not only celebrate His victory and our salvation but to experience His power in our daily lives.

I encourage you, as we celebrate Easter this year, why not ask yourself this question: Do I believe? Do I really believe that His resurrection changes everything?

I’m reminded of the words of the hymn:

“Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living just because He lives.”
