Kingdom People: The Divine Blueprint
In Revelation 2, Jesus issues sobering words to the church in Ephesus. He says, ‘You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first.’ Revelation 2:4-5
This prophetic Scripture challenges the church to examine their love for Jesus, and it still speaks to us today. It challenges us to think about what we are doing to love Jesus first and above any other thing or person.
Sometimes we can find ourselves drifting, and the best way to return to Jesus is to return the blueprint that He has for our lives, and how He wants us to live.
In Exodus, God showed the Israelites, His chosen people, the way that He wanted them to live. Exodus 19:5-8 says, ‘Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation’ … So Moses went back and summoned the elders of the people and set before them all the words the Lord had commanded him to speak. The people all responded together, “We will do everything the Lord has said.”’
Obedience was, and still is, key to God’s blueprint for our lives. It was through covenant relationship that God gave promises to His people, and this still applies to us today.
How many of us can say that this is how we respond to God? When we hear God’s instructions, just like the Israelites did, are we eager to obey? Do we recognise the covenant relationship that we have with God?
This summer is a good opportunity to pause and ask ourselves whether our steps are aligning with what God has said to us both personally and as a community.
How is your decision making? Who are those you are walking with in your life?
We want to guard against drift, and we can do this by ensuring that we do not deviate from the path and instructions that God has given to us.
We want to be faithful to walk in the ways of God, and repentant when we have opened doors in our lives to things that do not honour God.
Through walking closely with Jesus and with each other, and obeying God’s commands, we will be more effective in fulfilling the blueprint that God has for our lives.

Pause and reflect: Are your steps aligning with God’s blueprint for your life? Ask the Holy Spirit to help you walk according to this blueprint.
Make this your prayer today: ‘Lord, I will do everything that you have said.’ Exodus 19:8.
