Deeper Dive
There are 3 things in particular that we can take away from this passage of Scripture.
Firstly, Kingdom Exploits are born out of love for God.
In John 14:15, Jesus says, ‘if you love me keep my commands.’ Again, in verse 23, Jesus says ‘anyone who loves me will obey my teaching.’ We do not obey to show we love God, but we obey because we love God. Obedience is not a proof of our love for God but a result or consequence of our love for God. We can ask God to help us love Him like we should.
Secondly, God will always make provision for His assignment.
Jesus says in verse 18, ‘I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.’ Our Father never leaves us, and He always provides what we need. Provision can be broken down as ‘Pro-Vision’, meaning, ‘For the vision.’ God adopts us into his family and if He sends us out, He will definitely provide for the vision He has assigned to us.
Thirdly, we don’t need to fear anymore. Jesus says in verse 27, ‘Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.’ Jesus gives us peace and this peace relieves us of fear. In fact, it’s God’s perfect love in our lives that casts out fear (1 John 4:18).
